Thank you Jan for sending this through - I am sure lots of others would like to try this at home too!
Making Rainbows
We made a rainbow out of a piece of card, a glass of water.
- I put the card on the floor in a sunny spot beside a window.
- We put the glass of water on top of the card.
- When we lifted the glass up and the sun shone through the water, a rainbow appeared on the paper. It was small at first and got bigger when the glass was lifted higher.
- Do you know that when the sun shines through water it bends the light to make rainbow shapes?
What a cool experiment Scarlett! Isn't it amazing how water can bend the sunlight into rainbow colours and shapes?! I really like how you have drawn a picture and written some sentences about it too! Awesome job, keep it up!:)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! I think i'll make some rainbows at my house today too! I love your picture and the bright colours you used. Great sentences too! Keep up the great work :)

Wow, what a cool activity Scarlett! A great way to grow your scientific knowledge! :) That writing is also great, well done! You have inspired me to try make my own rainbow :)
ReplyDeleteHi Scarlett and family, Thank you for sharing this cool activity, we've just tried it too and it worked :) Hana however has a question that I cannot answer - "How can I make the rainbow a lot bigger? What we have here is too small, Mum..." ^_^;;
