Hi Toroa, Mia wanted to share with you her eventful day.
She has started the day learning about fractions with dad. After watching the helpful YouTube video from the home learning site, she was ready to give it a go and we had a big success.
She also did some math (subtractions and additions to 20) afterwards . Then we had a long 2.30h family walk from Wigram to Westlake reserve and back. Mia was actually biking. We fed the ducks, watch the different types of birds and learned about it. Have you guys been to Westlake Reserve? If you haven't it is definitely a good place to visit for a play, walk or picnic.
When we got back we decided to make a cheesecake for the weekend and Mia helped with crushing the biscuits.
After dinner she was ready for some more learning, so we did some spelling, writing and fine motor skills. She also learned how to use the kitchen scales by measuring different fruits and practicing the numbers trying to find what is the biggest and smallest number and fruit.
Gosh after all of these activities mummy is ready to go to bed. :-)
Happy weekend everyone.

Mia what a superstar you are! I love that you are finding so much learning in everyday activities and that you are using the Home Learning site too. It's great to see Mum and Dad are having fun with you too! I hope you have another great week of learning - oh and how was the cheesecake? From Mrs Hefferman
ReplyDeleteHi Mia. Miss Muriel here. What really cool learning, keep learning from Dad and Mum and your grandparents, aunties and uncles too. You can learn so much from your family, keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you weighed out the different fruits and recorded their weight. Go you Mia! If you don't mind, do you think we can do some measurement activities like this when we are back at school? What a really fantastic idea.
You sound like you are getting very clever with your maths Mia! I haven't been to Westlake Reserve yet, thanks for recommending it I will make sure I go there. Baking and cooking in the kitchen leads to so many different kinds of learning. I wonder what else you can bake? Mrs Josland
ReplyDeleteHello Mia,
ReplyDeleteIt’s lovely to see you happy in your bubble, and having so much fun learning. I have a feeling Westlake Reserve is where my son visited to play football last season. There was a walking path around the circumference, I think?
You have been so busy Mia...and learning so many new things. Very inspirational! My parents live near Westlake and it's one of my favourite parks in Christchurch. Another really cool one close to Wigram is Warren Park. (We call it the secret park because not a lot of people know where it is. ) It has a great flying fox. You could walk and bike there too!
ReplyDeleteMs Lunan
Hi Ms Lunan, Warren Park is great. We know it very well. Our house is on the edge of the park and we have a secret door in our back yard that goes onto the park. Mia spends most of her day there.
