Ethan’s Tuesday

Hi everyone!

Today I went on a big adventure to Nga Puna Wai and did lots of scootering and walking. I was excited to "explore the habitat and try to find some animals". We stopped at a pond covered in algae or "pond scum" as I told my Mum and spent a long time "discovering", "researching" and experimenting with it by throwing stones and "stirring" it with a stick, as well as smelling it carefully and watching it move around in the water. I don't think I would like to swim in it but it was cool to explore and learn about. We saw lots of ducks and other birds, and eventually after a long search we found some eels under a bridge. That was the best part!

I also had my first try on the learning ladder website today and really enjoyed it.

  1. Great to see you out and about in your local area Ethan! It's a great spot to explore isn't it? I remember seeing eels when I was on holiday up in Golden Bay, they are really interesting to watch swimming around. Great that you are enjoying Studyladder too! From Mrs Hefferman.

  2. You are so Adventurous Ethan, I love it! Wow you found eels too, good searching. I haven't heard of Nga Puna Wai, sometime in the future I may have to go looking for that place. Keep discovering, researching and experimenting, doing that will help you lots through school.

Thank you for sharing all your learning, it's magnificent.

  6. Hi Ethan. Thanks for sharing about your great exploration! On our walks we go to see the eels down at Liffey Springs in Lincoln. They are very tame and get fed often. It is wonderful that you like to explore and make discoveries. There is so much to learn in nature. You will have lots of stories to tell us when we get back to school! From Robbie.
