Kia Ora koutou to all of Ethan's wonderful teachers 😊
Ethan has been really enjoying learning about "the animal kingdom" recently and was lucky enough to receive some animal fact books on his recent birthday. On Wednesday we started by reading through the first part of one of these books together, we spent nearly an hour reading and learning about a range of different animals and their habitats. Later in the morning this developed in to some play with his sister involving creating a burrow for them to hibernate in together! We have also been talking with Ethan about the sounds letters and words so often when he starts talking about an animal he will tell us what sound or letter he thinks it starts with or ask us if he is not sure. We also practised recognising some letters from his book in his reading folder. Ethan also enjoyed doing some yoga today which we have just discovered during lockdown!
Today Ethan wanted to start the day with some more reading together, this time choosing some of his favourite stories from his bookshelf to read. We also decided to practice some writing, and after we talked about the letters in his name he had a practice writing it. Ethan then decided to draw a map to help "solve a mystery" with his younger sister. This afternoon we went for a walk/bike ride as Ethan has learnt to ride his bike with no training wheels last week and is very excited about this. On our walk we collected leaves and sticks and plan to use these in the morning to decorate some letters by sticking them on to paper with glue.
Thanks for all your support and we hope you are all keeping safe and well

WOW, Ethan so many fantastic things to be doing in your bubble. What a great big brother sharing your learning with your sister too. Thank you so much for posting what you have been getting up to. I think I may have to collect leaves and sticks on my walk later today and decorate the letters in my name, thank you for that idea :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and your sister have lots of fun and games in your home. Keep up the great work Ethan :)
It makes me so happy and gives me warm fuzzies seeing all your learning at home.
Lots of high fives and crocodile claps from Miss Muriel :)
Hi Ethan (and family) - well this reminds me of when we spent ages looking at the book about Hippos you found in the classroom - do you remember, we sat for ages finding out facts and you had so many questions! Good to see you are getting outside and doing some exercise as well as inside fun. Did you solve your mystery with your sister?
ReplyDeletelooking forward to hearing more about your learning at home soon, from Mrs Hefferman.

It's so cool that you can do you learning and some cool activities and games with your sister.
Could you play 'I spy 'with your family using the animal books or other things in your house?
Thanks you so much for sharing your fun day! From Ms Lunan
Hi Ethan! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful learning with us. I love learning about animals and where they live too! Which animal was your favourite and where does it live? It is fantastic to see you doing lots of fun things with your family and including your sister. I did some yoga to start my day today. Maybe we can do some together when we are back at school. Have a great day today and look forward to hearing more about your awesome home learning another time! From Mrs Wales.
ReplyDeleteHi Ethan, I'm very impressed that you have learnt to ride your bike without trainer wheels. You must have been practicing a lot - ka pai! I have been out walking and collecting leaves and sticks with my son too. What colour leaves did you find?
ReplyDeleteHi Ethan. Thank you for sharing so many of the great activities you have been doing at home with your family. What a great birthday present, books about animals! I remember when we have read books together at school, you chose animal facts books. Perhaps you would like to share some of these facts with your friends when we get back to school. Have a think about how you could do that! From Robbie.
